How is NIOS different from other Boards?

The National Institute of NIOS Coachinging was brought into existence by the ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India in November 1989.It was passed through a resolution (No. F.5-24/90 Sch.3 dated 14 September 1990 published in the Gazette of India on 20 October 1990). The NIOS being a recognized board is in no way inferior to any other board such as ICSE or CBSE board. NIOS is equally recognized by all institutes and universities for admission.

Therefore after completing your 12th (N.I.O.S Passed) students can seek admission in all India as well as state Medical, Engineering and other various competitive exams like IIT-JEE, AIEEE, PMT (NEET) and also other professional and acedemic courses in all universities, technical institutes across the country and abroad. They can also seek the government jobs whether central / state government. However other eligibility criteria like age, particular subjects, qualifying percentage and other criteria must be fulfilled by the students. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has also intimated the Registrars of all Indian Universities vide their Notification No. E V/11 (354)91/dated 25.7.1991 of its decision to grant equivalence to N.I.O.S. courses with those of other examinations of recognized Boards for purposes of admission to higher courses of study at Indian Universities.
